The inadvertent expatriate blogger behind SunnyFieldWorks

Hey, I'm Sophie
I am a project manager, a parent, and an expat living in Zurich, Switzerland.
A few years ago I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary contract gradually evolved into a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Switzerland wasn't in the long-range plan. Like many expat relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon evolved into something far larger.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks felt more tangled than they should.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning on the go. Gradually routines took shape. We found places that fit us, met other families, and began creating something that felt steady.
Why I Built SunnyFieldWorks
Most information online was either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was missing was an honest, day-to-day family perspective.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in Switzerland.
What This Site Represents (And What It Isn't)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in Switzerland
- Centered on family life and day-to-day realities
- Updated whenever there is a real change
This site is not:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- A platform for sponsored reviews
- Just another generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our time in Switzerland continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains helpful, I’ll keep recording what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Zurich or anywhere in Switzerland, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Sophie
